City of Laramie Hosts Annual Community Clean-Up Days During National Volunteer Month

It’s time to make Laramie beautiful again! After a long winter, the City of Laramie in partnership with the University of Wyoming (UW) Service, Leadership, and Community Engagement (SLCE) department invites residents to join Community Clean-Up Days from April 19th through May 5th to clear windblown litter and refresh shared green spaces. Held during National Volunteer Month and in honor of Earth Day (April 22), this is the perfect opportunity to give back to the community and show pride in Laramie’s outdoor spaces.

Community members interested in volunteering have two weeks to volunteer their time and effort cleaning up various outdoor spaces in and around Laramie before summer begins. Everyone is invited to team up with friends, family, roommates, and coworkers to make an even greater impact. The Clean-Up Days offer ample opportunity to get involved in National Volunteer Month and celebrate Earth Day.

In a joint effort with the UW SLCE department, the City of Laramie is launching Community Clean-Up Days with a free Kickoff Event on Saturday, April 19th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Laramie Recreation Center. Attendees can enjoy free, locally designed T-shirts for signing up to volunteer (while supplies last), food trucks, bounce houses, and community resources while learning how to sign up to volunteer.

Groups and/or individuals that can’t make the Kickoff Event can sign up for a clean-up time and location on the City’s Volunteer Platform or by calling the Code Enforcement Office at (307) 721-5285. The clean-up locations are pre-determined, but additional clean-up site requests are welcome with advance notice. Trash bags and safety vests are available, and City staff will collect filled bags.

The Community Clean-Up Days are a great way to join forces and make a big impact on the planet while giving back to the community. Call the City at (307) 721-5285 to coordinate a clean-up location and time during the April 19th through May 5th timeframe or sign up online at http://www.cityoflaramie.org/1423.
