Precautionary Evacuation on 2000 Block of Polk Street Due to Discovery of WWII-Era Explosive Material

Laramie, WY — The Laramie Police Department is currently conducting a precautionary evacuation of the 2000 block of Polk Street following the discovery of World War II-era explosive material. The item was found by a local family while cleaning out a residence.

The Laramie Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team is on scene and actively assessing the situation. At this time, there is no threat to the community, and the evacuation is being carried out strictly as a safety measure.

We ask that residents and members of the public avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely and efficiently. There is no indication of criminal activity, and the discovery appears to be accidental.

Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
