Laramie has a small Street Maintenance Division and must schedule certain maintenance work strategically. Therefore, work is held off until later in the summer when a list of needed repairs has been compiled and the work can be completed all at once. Oftentimes, City crews compete against the private sector for available resources (e.g. asphalt mix) and must wait for these materials to become available; after large paving jobs are completed by contractors. Also, due to a limited number of local asphalt suppliers, our streets crew are frequently waiting on the availability of asphalt, which is in high demand during the construction season.
