Q. Could the city add a port-a-potty to Undine Park, as they have done in Washington Park, LaBonte Park, and others?
A. Currently, portable toilets are placed in heavily used winter public areas, including winter maintained walking paths and dog parks. These areas were identified through public input and staff recommendations. Unfortunately, the current Parks budget cannot absorb the expense of an additional portable toilet in Undine Park. Due to freezing weather conditions and unheated restrooms, all Park restrooms are closed for the winter, as well as for energy efficiency reasons. Potential updating of these restrooms is currently under review with funding provided by Special Purpose Tax collections over the next few budget cycles. Staff will evaluate the use of Undine Park to determine if a future budget request for additional funding to provide a portable toilet is feasible.
