The GIS division provides mapping and database support for the City for asset management and decision making. GIS is responsible for maintaining mapping on all City assets such as street signs, water mains, sewer mains, etc. and makes them available in the form of maps on tablets for field crews and desktop computers for internal users. For the public, GIS provides information via the new Planning web map. Internally, GIS is used in water, sewer, storm, parks and rec, streets division, code administration, and planning. The City will use GIS to participate in the upcoming 2020 Census.
