Compost Loading Waiver

Program Overview

The City of Laramie began the Compost Program in July 2009 to help divert green waste from the Landfill. Since the program began offering compost through the end of 2021, over 28 million pounds of compost has been sold or given away (the landfill has a free day for the public to try it out). This compost is Class A, Exceptional Quality grade and is great for any growing application including your home vegetable garden and flower beds. Just mix it in with your existing soil and start growing. 
                   
Purchase compost for $25 per ton or about $1.00 per 80 pounds at the Laramie Landfill year round Monday-Saturday. No Minimum amount, You can get a truck load or a handful for a fraction of the cost of bagged compost from a store.

The City offers free loading for trailers and 1 ton trucks or larger during normal business hours Monday through Saturday from 8:00 am-4:30 pm year round, dependent on staff availability.  On Saturdays, the best time to come in for loading will be from 8 am - 11 am.  A release of liability will need to be filled out by the owner of the vehicle prior to loading.
