The Laramie Police Department accepts lateral transfers. If your P.O.S.T. certification is from another state, you will need to meet the minimum requirements for certification as a Peace Officer in the State of Wyoming. To find out if you do, YOU must contact the P.O.S.T Commission in Cheyenne, Wyoming at 307-777-7718 with documented training information for them to review. 

If you are applying as a previously certified Peace Officer, you must ALSO include:

  • Certificate of attendance of a basic Law Enforcement Academy. 
    • If it is an academy outside the state of Wyoming, you will need to provide documented hours and course of instruction.
  • Documentation of any advanced Law Enforcement training.
