Types of Hearings in Municipal Court
Arraignments – In person or via zoom, Please email municourt@cityoflaramie.org to set up a zoom court date.
This is where you will enter a plea of either Guilty or Not Guilty.
A court date is provided to you at the bottom of your citation. Please get in contact with the court before that date to set up a Zoom arraignment. If you are unable to appear on your court date, please contact the court immediately to set up a new court date. You may contact the court if you have more questions or concerns. If you are unsure of where to find the court date on your citation or whether your appearance in mandatory, please click on the links below for a sample citation.
Bench Trials or Other Hearings – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 10:30 am, 11:00 am and 11:30 am.
If you plead Not Guilty to a non-jailable offense at your initial appearance, you will be set for a Bench Trial. Here, the Judge will determine if you are guilty or not guilty of the charge.
Scheduling Conferences – Tuesdays at 8:30 am.
If you plead Not Guilty to a jailable offense, the matter will be set for a scheduling conference. A scheduling conference is an informal meeting between you/ your attorney, the Judge and City Attorney. Here you will discuss the next processes of your case.
Jury Trials – Wednesdays at 8:30 am.
If one of the offenses you are charged with is a jailable offense, you have the right to a Jury Trial or Trial of your peers. The Jury will determine if you are Guilty or Not Guilty.
