Types of Hearings in Municipal Court

Arraignments – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 9:00 am.

This is where you will enter a plea of either Guilty or Not Guilty.

A court date is provided to you at the bottom of your citation. If you are unable to appear on that date, you must appear prior to that date during arraignments. You may contact the court if you have more questions or concerns. If you are unsure of where to find the court date on your citation or whether your appearance in mandatory, please click on the links below for a sample citation.

Bench Trials or Other Hearings – Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 10:30 am, 11:00 am and 11:30 am.

If you plead Not Guilty to a non-jailable offense at your arraignment, the next hearing will be a Bench Trial. Here, the Judge will determine if you are guilty or not guilty of the charge.

Scheduling Conferences – Tuesdays at 8:30 am.

If you plead Not Guilty to a jailable offense, the matter will be set for a scheduling conference. A scheduling conference is an informal meeting with the Judge and City Attorney. Here you will discuss where you want your case to go.

Jury Trials – Wednesdays at 8:30 am.

If one of the offenses you are charged with is a jailable offense, you have the right to a Jury Trial or Trial of your peers. The Jury will determine if you are Guilty or Not Guilty.
