Fox Theater Information
Cowboy Saloon asbestos survey was conducted by Spectrum on Tuesday, May 19th for the erection of scaffolding, which will penetrate the roof, ceiling and floor of the “bar” portion of the Cowboy Saloon. Asbestos was found in several areas of the Cowboy’s ceiling tiles and ducts. Spectrum prepared and submitted an asbestos abetment plan, site safety work plan and the required 10-day notice to Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality.
Spectrum also submitted the all necessary plans and the 10-day notice to WDEQ for the Fox demolition.
Notices to vacate Cowboy Saloon and two residential apartments directly next to the Fox Theater were sent on June 1st. The vacation is effective June 8th through the duration of the demolition.
Final scaffolding design plans were prepared by WACO (the scaffold company subcontracted by ESA) and submitted to ESA and the City on June 2nd.
Pre-demolition work commenced on Monday, June 1st. Crews sealed-off a small portion of Jeffery’s Bistro kitchen (Sarah’s Bakery) and made necessary arrangements for utility relocations.
On June 4th, Second Street was closed in cooperation with adjacent business owners. First Interstate Bank drive-up teller access has been redirected to University Avenue.
On June 5th, ESA detached the “Fox” sign and the marquee on June 5th. ESA provided the “Fox” sign to Mr. Roger Schlump, a city resident who collects historic signs and other memorabilia.
A historic and structural analysis report, proposed demolition report, site safety plan, and
asbestos abatement plan are available below.
